  1. Following the announcement on Monday, 23 March 2020 by the Government regarding a national lockdown to deal with COVID-19, we will be closing our office with effect from close of business 25 March 2020.

  2. Please note that our services will continue on the basis that our employees will be working from home and will be available via electronic mail.

  3. Should you wish to consult, either telephonically or through other conference means, kindly contact the employee concerned in advance, to make the necessary arrangements.

  4. In light of the lockdown, I would like to bring the following to your attention:
    1. There have been various briefings and/or directives issued by the relevant departments over the past few days and as a result the access to courts has been restricted in certain circumstances, such as the issuing of new matters, filing and general court protocol.

    2. In the interim however, the Judge President has delegated his authority to the heads of the relevant High Courts and Magistrate Courts to issue directives in order to permit access to courts in certain circumstances. We are currently awaiting a final directive in this regard and I will communicate this directive to you as and when it becomes available.

    3. The Labour Court will be closed during the period 26 March 2020 to Thursday, 16 April 2020 (both days inclusive). Any matter enrolled for this period will be postponed and a date will be re-allocated. The Labour Court will however hear urgent applications however, strict procedures have been put in place.

    4. The CCMA will cease full operations and services for the duration of the nation-wide lockdown, 26 March 2020 to Thursday, 16 April 2020 (both days inclusive).

  5. During this trying time, we can assure you that we remain committed to representing your best interests.

  6. We appreciate your understanding and ask for your patience during this time as your matter/s may be delayed.

  7. I want to emphasise that we are fully supportive of Government’s steps to curb the transmission of COVID-19. We understand the inconvenience this may cause however we will continue to monitor the situation and keep you abreast of any further developments.

  8. In closing, I want to urge you to please adhear to the Government’s Regulations put in place and to respect the safety and views of others. If we all do our bit, South Africa can limit the immediate and long term effects of COVID-19.
